Capacity restoration - details
At this page we show some additional information regarding the battery capacity restoration, which can help readers to create a more detailed picture about the way of implementation and advantages.
Main approaches to the capacity restoration
There are two main approaches to battery capacity recovery in terms of concept:
- Regular (preventive)
- Curative (one-shot)
- Regular (preventive)
- regular application of capacity recovery process every two or three years. From this perspective it can be perceived as a form of maintenance, which helps to keep the internal environment of the battery clean and in good condition. This approach allows for extending battery life even beyond producers specifications
- Curative (one-shot)
- an one-time application of the capacity recovery process to a battery, which is generally in poor technical condition, with a very small capacity, no longer suitable for deployment. This is usually the last attempt to "repair" the battery before it is completely discarded. With curative capacity restoration, we achieve a lower success rate (currently app.50%) comparing to the regular, because of the mostly very poor technical condition of the batteries.
Below is a chart with model for 10-year backup battery (designed lifespan) for both approaches.

Capacity recovery success rate
The capacity recovery success rate indicates how many batteries can be considered to be successfully restored after gone through a capacity recovery process and ready for use in real-world application.
Note: the success rate is meant for a curative approach - one-shot capacity recovery of batteries in a poor technical shape.

Success rate
50% (now) | The success rate we are reaching currently, with our current technology. |
60% (in 2023) | WITHOUT predictions. Success rate increase achieved just by enhancing our capacity recovery algorithms - without employing the predictions. We estimate that the peak, commonly achievable for the battery capacity recovery will be at the level 60% - 65%. |
90% (in 2023) | WITH predictions. Our expected maximal success rate with predictions feature. |
Predictions: AI-powered predictions executed prior to the capacity restoration process to determine, whether the particular battery can or can not be restored using our technology. This estimation enables us to process only batteries with good chances for capacity recovery and not waste time and resources on unrecoverable batteries. This data-driven battery deep diagnostics feature of our devices is currently being developed.
